Fritz, who stubbornly wants to play through pain whenever possible, finally received an ultimatum from coach Michael Russell and the rest of his team who were urging him to rest.

“My team literally came to me after Miami and said: ‘You can go play Monte Carlo, you can go play whatever—but we're not coming with you,’” Fritz revealed on Friday in Paris.
