As I looked at my phone upon waking up in New Jersey this morning, most of my unread messages were about the same baffling event: former ATP No. 1 Daniil Medvedev, who has been in the midst of a resurgent season that vaulted him back into the Top 10, had lost his opening match at ATP 1000 Monte Carlo by the shocking score of 6-0, 6-0 to 90th-ranked Matteo Berrettini.
