"One of the most notable things to me, which might not always come through as clearly on television: the Australian Open has a creeping commercialism which is unmatched among the majors."

This is what I fear most, because the U.S. Open's current commercialism seemed unmatched to me. On top of that, Tiley has always seemed a bit sleazy to me -- because of his annual false promises about who would be playing, and especially because of his role in the Djokovic fiasco in 2022.

Fascinating to see what direction Tiley’s successor takes the AO. Surely there’s only so much rampant commercialisation you can fit into a grand slam 🥺

Thanks Ben. I didn’t know that the AO was so forward thinking when it comes to LGBTQ issues, let alone that Tiley himself is so supportive. That is heartening to hear and hopefully bodes well for his tenure with the USTA.

Good article as always Ben. What about best of 5 for women after the 1/4s at US OPEN as proposed at AO? Will be interesting
