Think it’s a nice move by him to give Dan Evans a wildcard after he wasn’t able to defend his title last year as he was playing Olympics with Andy in his final event

Would love to read a story sometime that's all about appearance fees. Do 500-level tournaments even need to give them out or can they count on attracting enough star power just because of the points that are up for grabs?

Possibly reading between the lines too much, but I read the Zverev section as Zverev stating he didn't come back because the offered appearance fee was lower in favor of spreading fees more broadly across players.

Really interesting interview. The 73% of sales being for the full tournament blows my mind. That has to be unusual for any tournament. … Lovely tidbit about going with your dad the first time. Those memories never leave you.

Would love to make a trip of this event one year. Some of the smaller tournaments (esp with quality line-up) gives tennis fans a better experience to see more matches and more stars, up close. Especially with only a round of 64, even the qualifying matches are too 100 players. Looking at the draw this year, the strategic plan is working. Lots of amazing match up’s starting round 1.

Appreciate Ein's willingness to talk through everything with the event. Going for the third straight year this year and am extremely excited.

I'm looking forward to coming this week, thanks for the great interview.

One question: is there an explanation for the women's field being smaller than the men's? Is that typical worh WTA 500s?

Such a cool interview! This is my home tournament as well and I'm volunteering as an usher this week. Love the depth of the field that comes to play here every year!
